Networking is vital for those that want to move up the corporate ladder. According to Hubspot, 85% of jobs are through networking. These jobs are either posted internally or are created specifically for candidates that recruiters meet through networking. It is as equally significant for entrepreneurs to network. Networking allows you to build stronger and more meaningful business relationships.  A professional networking event is an opportunity for you to present yourself, make new connections, and even find yourself a new job or new business. I recently was the moderator at our WBC Networking meeting and had the privilege of interviewing an esteemed panel of businesswomen. Below are important points we discussed that may be beneficial as you get out there to network.

Give your best 30-second elevator pitch.

  • Know your audience. What differentiates you from your competition.

How many networking groups should you belong to?

  • There is no right amount. You must do what is right for you. Look at the businesses that are represented in the group, how do they benefit you? Are they your target audience? What value do you bring to the group, and what value do they bring to you?

How to leverage social media to Network?

  • Social Media gets your brand out there. So, post as little as once a week. It depends on your target audience and what you are selling, but it’s essential to have a social presence.

How can we expand our networks?

  • Make it a point to at least have one intro meeting out of every networking event. It takes time to build a network. It does not happen overnight and don’t expect to close a sale right away. You need to build trust in a relationship first.

I hope you enjoyed this blog. Make it a point to be networking, as much as you can, and I promise you will see results. If you want to discuss networking even further, I will be happy to take the time to connect with you. Please schedule time with me to discuss your specific questions.
